About Us
Meet Our Founder
Founded in April 2019, Lula's Candle Company, LLC (Lula's Candle Co.) is a woman, minority-owned business created by Courtney D. Sykes. Born and raised in a small town called Apopka, FL she currently resides in Atlanta, GA with her husband and two-year old son. In her spare time, Courtney enjoys traveling, serving her local community, and hanging out with her family, close girlfriends and fellow creatives/entrepreneurs. When not managing full-time responsibilities in her day job at a major research institution in the Corporate Development field, Courtney is balancing motherhood and entrepreneurship by pouring her heart and soul into creating soy candles and room mists designed to enhance relaxation and restoration.
How It Began
Lula's Candle Co. was birthed from the pain and grief Courtney experienced when she lost her mom's Godmother and one of her grandmother's best friends. In January 2018, "Auntie Lula," as Courtney affectionately called her, gained her wings after passing away from her battle. Fast forward a year later to April 20, 2019 on what should have been Auntie Lula's birthday, Courtney announced that she was creating this company to honor her, to thank her, and to become the woman Auntie Lula knew she could be. Now, Lula's Candle Co. is a beacon of hope to remember those who have lost loved ones to cancer and celebrate the lives of those who have triumphed and beat their disease.

Our mission is to bring light to those in need of love, self-care, peace, and healing. Whether you have lost a loved one, are battling a disease, or simply a lover of candles, we aim to spread love and support through custom hand crafted candles and luxury room mists. Based in Atlanta, GA, all of our products are hand-made with you in mind, poured with love in small batches, hand packaged and comes with a prayer of peace.

The Vision

Through Lula's Candle Company, Courtney hopes to spread awareness about cancer and to support the lives impacted by a disease. Our candles and room mists provide a beacon of hope while brightening your home.

Fun Fact: Did you know nine out of ten homes in the U.S. use candles as decor? Our candles are the perfect way to leave a lasting impression while stimulating meaningful conversations surrounding this cause. Plus, what better way to support a cause through the purchase or gift of a candle.
Our Giving
A portion of our proceeds directly support individuals and their families battling cancer and cancer non-profits/brands that specifically focus on cancer research, education and support. We also directly support local Atlanta nonprofit organizations through various in-kind efforts.

Our Candles
​
All of our beautiful candles are 100% natural soy-based. We only use soy wax and phthalate-free fragrance oils in our candles because they burn longer, slower and cleaner than other wax-based candles. Soy wax is natural, renewable, non-toxic and biodegradeable - this means, they are eco-friendly and perfect for both you and your home. Free of all of the bad stuff we find in stores like paraffin wax (petroleum by-products), palm wax, additives, and dyes. Not to mention, we hand-pour our candles with love in small batches to assure quality and consistency.

Our Wax Melts
Our wax melts are a wick-free alternative to scented candles. They are a quick way to make your home smell amazing, producing room-filling aroma in minutes. Because wax melts are flame-free, you will need to ensure that you have a wax melt warmer to activate your wax melts. Soy based wax melts are safe because they do not emit any harmful fumes, unlike other types of waxes. Soy-based wax melts are also biodegradable and environmentally friendly. Since they emit no fumes you don't need to worry about breathing them, making them safe for you and your family.

Our Room Mists
​
Our luxury room mists are the perfect compliment to our hand-poured soy candles! They are sooo easy to use and a great way to freshen any room, office, car, etc. As with our candles, we only use phthalate-free fragrance oils and pour in small batches for quality control. Our room mists are available in as individual bottles or as a gift set, so you don't have to make the tough decision and decide which fragrance you want!
Our Reed Diffusers
Our diffusers are handmade and poured. Variations in color and fill height are completely normal and to be expected. They are great option if you’d like a flameless and safer way to disburse lots of fragrance in your space (bathroom, office, bedroom, etc.) without having to remember to blow out a flame.
